Google Earth Satellite images

Has anyone tried:

Google Earth
http://earth.google.com

It's a free download (for the basic program) and you can view satellite images of where you live and observe (I could pick out my place, but not astrorons).

So instead of looking up with a telescope, you are looking down.

Yeah tis pretty neat! Nice resolution details aswell. very amazing stuff... and have u noticed how quickly you can go from one part of the world to another...

other features being added in is to bring up your neighbourhood and you can list all the food places there, and also bringing you down to street level, so you see on the screen what you would see if you were standing on the street corner. only have these features for Washington so far afaik.

Yep! Tried that one. Doesn't zoom in to my place. Only gets as close as approx 50 kilometre radius!!

Huh! Must be a different one to the one I used before. I'll go and check.

EDIT: Yep! it's a different one and according to the system requirements I ain't got a hope of downloading that monster on dial-up! There was a similiar one posted here a few weeks ago and it works fine on dial-up.
