First Sun for PST-Fantastic
This has been the first day this year where we've had Sun without either total clouds, rain, or high cirrus which gave very poor seeing.
I've just come inside (it's still only 6 deg out there!) after 20 mins with the PST.
It was absolutely fanatastic! And that coming from a BOF who built his first telescope over 45 years ago.
On the Eastern side, there are long strands of Flocculi and Faculae sitting on top of a boiling cauldron of glowing, twisted detail. As the faculae extends towards the edge of the disk you are at once grabbed by the sight of streaming prominences, at least two, very large, like a veil tossed high in the wind ( geee, I wish I was a poet at times like this!)
All this on top of a clear granulated surface. I have never in all my years seen the Sun like this. Almost as good as the photos you've seen.
I think the PST has already paid for itself!!!!!!!!
