Unhappy Will the weather gods shine upon me..

A massive storm just went through Sydney area, i'm hoping it's clear on the other side..

Got an hour before I have to make a call on whether to call off the dark sky night I had planned with a friend and his kids.

The radar map looks promising, just depends how quickly it moves through..

Murphy's Law of Meteorology - bad weather always moves slower than you want it to

After having a busy week or so and having most of the nights clouded in, it's 3:30pm here and no clouds. I might give some more wide field work a go tonight

Cheers,

Brad

Total cloud cover here in Hobart too. Just because I was planning an observing session.

Woke up at 1am, went outside and it was fairly clear to the East and North, though there was a high haze around.. I just went back to bed.

Ice,
my meager experience is that after a storm/front the seeing will be ****e, but the transperancy good. I find the best seeing (if there is such a thing in NZ) is just prior to a front.
I normally don't webcam (planetary) unless the seeing is very good, and I normally guage this by the eyepiece view first. If cracker, I do it, if suspect I don't.
Unless I want the practice of course.
Gary

Apparently this rotten low system that's been hovering over the east coast for 2 weeks will move further east tomorrow, so wednesday might be the first clear night in a month!

Sorry if it comes your way Gary

heya fellas! (yeah I'm a bit late replying to this thread but I just found this forum yesterday, gimme a break!)
Wasn't there a hail storm on Monday? Well, whatever day it was, the hail storm followed us home I was just about to leave work at 4:15pm when out of nowhere, hail came pouring down. My poor fiance was stuck outside waiting in the car for me to come down and so he got hailed on. After it cleared (rain was still pouring) we headed home westward and the storm followed us. About halfway home, the bad weather moved way faster than we wanted it to and it hailed on us again, though not as bad as the first time. That day was also the day Perth nearly broke the highest temperature reaching just over 41 degrees. Isn't that out where you are aragorn?
Just think about it as poor Mother Nature trying to stabalise herself after all the damage we've been causing to her.

Don't worry DD, if there's one thing us observers have learned, it's patience. Last night was cloudy here too. Hope you get clear skies soon.

If it's of any consequence, it's cloudy in NZ too! At least with a bright moon and longest day today, we're not missing out on too much dark sky!
One thing I learnt very early on is that this is truly of hooby of patience. Good luck
