Homunculus Nebula

Hi Guys,

After seeing Bert's Homunculus Nebula in the Keyhole Nebula, i've decided to give it ago. Very interesting indeed.

A few sets of exposures ranging from 1 sec, 2 sec, 5 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec exposure shots. (I can't remember how many but only a few). The right one is a zoom of the first. The third image i did recently to give you an idea of the perspective around it.

High Res here:

Cheers

Not a bad effort Eric. Screams for focal length to obtain greater detail.

Very good result, Eric.

It's a tough target as the light from Eta washes out the double bubbles around it.

Visually, the bubbles can be seen quite easily from dark skies, but cameras get burnout from Eta while trying to get the fainter bubbles.

But you have done nice work of it

probably the best one yet, is this a merged multi exposure version or did you just use one of the listed times?

cheers guys thanks. I wonder if adding more filters might lower the carina star bightness. hmm. It is a merged of the listed exposure shots.

That's amazing Eric!

I love to observe the Homunculus visually. Your image captures the scene so well.
