Hi all
Got a lend of Houghys cooled dslr, and his Astronomik CLS filter, so used them on the horsehead area
just 3x5 mins ISO400 before cloud killed it, as it was there was thin high cloud I was shooting through hence the haloes round bright stars. Getting it right overhead instead of in the east over bright newcastle, and going for an hour would see a huge improvement, so I can say the CLS filter certainly works. Agains when I looked at the dark frame I took, it was virtually black, so good does the cooling work.Ive also attached a full res. crop of a dark frame and also an unprocessed sub, theres just no thermal noise to speak of, and the dark shows just a handfull of hot pixels, normally there would be thermal noise in the form of coloured spots all over the place.
