Rainbow halo around Sun, 2 Jan 12:30 EST

Hi, Happy New Year - just wondering if anyone else noticed the rainbow halo around the Sun at around 12:00 - 12:30 EST, 2 Jan? I was out for a walk and happened to notice the beautiful sight. Tried to get a few glances without viewing the sun directly. Can only assume it was due to the high altitude cloud in the sky at that time. From what I could tell, it was a perfect ring around the sun with the colours of the spectrum. I guess it's more a meterological event than astronomical but thought I'd share it here nevertheless.
Cheers
AL

AL thanks for the postNot much chance of even seeing the Sun here in Qld
If there were no clouds it it is usualy ice crystal which cause the halo effect
