A new Control Room and Obs location

I haven't posted much for the last few days as I've been busy constructing until late at night and worn out from it (and severely sunburnt).

I still haven't set everything up properly since Camp, and seeing as it's only half done, I took this opportunity to locate everything to a better spot.

You may remember the photos of my control room. A 1200mm x 1200mm area cramped with my imaging computers and such. Not a lot of room to breathe!

I am going to eventually built an Obs way out in the back paddock, but I really need a bit of space now. I looked around for a solution and then remembered that out the back of my shed is a large concrete pad!!!

The wierd part is that inside the shed (4m x 11m) is a sloping dirt floor, but adjoining the back wall is a 4m x 4m concrete slab Seems a bit back-to-front to me!

The answer was simple; Move the obs to the concrete slab and make a control room inside the shed

Below is a photo of the original cramped location, then followed by photos of the new set-up I've got LOTS of space now, and even a lounge chair for visitors

1. Cramped old control room
2. Floor and benches built in new control room
3. LOTS of bench space and room to move
4. Obs outside on concrete slab
5. Partially set up
6. New obs location
7. again

Now that you've done all the work, expect a comet to show up in the area blocked by the shed

The shed doesn't block any more than the house did where it was before

Nope, Houghy, I actually gained a bit
A tree that was blocking the North up to about 40 degrees isn't in the way now.
It's even a tad darker than where it was before

Depends on the Astronomer

Actually, it is to keep them in otherwise they'd be straight out into the paddocks and become 'Sheep ripping' dogs!!!
And it keeps the sheep out!

Enough room to swing the proverbial cat, perhaps even a tiger!

ps. when photographing sunsets, it helps to frame it a bit better

pps. I'll have to donate a coffee machine when ( )I come to visit

That's a great looking setup Ken. I see the obligatory cloud layer rolled in for the official photos.

Cheers

Thanks Frank.

Everything has been extended about 6m (GoTo, cameras, electronic focuser, etc) and I have no problems with any of it. No loss of signal or interference
