Incredible! Earth-rise from the Moon! New images..
This has to be one of the most amazing images I've seen..
http://www.lpod.org/?m=20071114
The image is from the HDTV camera on-board the Kaguya/Selene spacecraft of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
More incredible images, and video of the event, here:

Just mind-blowing!

Great images indeed. Images of great beauty. Neil Armstrong was always thrilled by the sight of earthrise but deep down was saddened by the fact that the inhabitants of such a beautiful looking planet couldn't live peacefully together.

A wonderful image, Earthrise with Oz leading the way. I agree with Neil Armstrong's sentiments, we've only got one planet and there is no way off at the moment.
Very inspiring.

Correct me if i am wrong but given the moon essentially shows us the same side, with a little libration, then the earth would neither rise nor set .... a small amount of up and down to match libration...... the earth would just spin on its axis.

This maybe the case, but an orbiter circling the Moon would experience a rising and setting Earth from it's perspective going round the Moon if it's orbit takes it between the Earth and the Moon.

Yup! that is correct if you have Starry Night you can sit yourself
on the moon and look back at Earth and see this in action.
