How to quote in threads?

While replying to a post I tried to insert a quote from the original post but it didnt work. Could someone explain how this is done?

There is a small rectangular box at the bottom right hand corner of each post with 'Quote' written in it. Click on that and it will automatically quote that post.


You can also quote random text with the following markers around the text:

[ quote ] Insert random text here [ /quote ] (don't use the spaces between the [ & ]

[ quote]put your stuff in here [/quote]
remove the space after the first [

I just found a third way

Write the text, highlight it, and press the little icon that looks like a speech bubble in the menubar directly above where you are writing the text

Or you can highlight the text you want,

Write the text, highlight it, and press the little icon that looks like a speech bubble in the menubar directly above where you are writing the text

right click your mouse and select copy. Right click paste it into the Quick Reply box and then click the bubble
