DANGER!!!! Do NOT air your tent out before an Astro Camp

Thinking it was a good idea to give my tent an 'air out' before I use it this Friday at Camp, I set it all up to check all the pegs, posts etc were there, and get rid of that 'stored away' smell.

I meant to only leave it up for the day, but forgot about it!!!!

This is what I came out to find at 7:00am this morning.

My dogs won't come near me at the moment!

Not only did my dogs destroy the outside, but they tore their way inside and conmmenced to tear up the inside walls too!!!

Moral to the story: If you need to air your tent out, lock up the dogs!!!!!!!

1. Outside awning section
2. Outside awning section
3. Inside the main room

Perhaps that 'stored away' smell was a bit like a 'food' smell to the dogs?!!!

I have no idea what was going through their heads.

I know my boot went through their backsides!

It is not in their character to do this destruction, and the clawmarks went right up to the roof, so they did some mighty high jumping!!!!! And they even chew one of the zips off and chewed through one of the ropes

I am going to Rays Tent City right now to get another one. I checked with them and they have one left!

Our dogs usually do these sorts of destructive deeds when they are bored. I feel for you Ken - I'd still be cleaning my ankles off after extracting my foot from their behinds.

If it's any consolation Ken, we had a similar thing happen to the boys tent by our cats, although not as bad.
I reckon our dog would've caused more damage though if he got stuck into it.

Ouch! Are you sure it was your dogs? An inquisitive possum that got frightened maybe?

Cheers

What a bummer Ken, there must have been one strong alluring smell that your pooches really wanted to get to.

Dennis, I am 100% sure it was the dogs.

As soon as I walked outside and headed in the direction of the tent, they skulked away. Guilty conciences.
Oh well, I picked up my new tent this afternoon. And I won't be airing it out in the backyard next time. I'll use the paddock again, the sheep have never touched it any other time it has been out there.

Yeah – I’ve seen that “don’t look at me, I’m as guilty as hell” look on a dog as it tried to sneak out of the lounge after destroying the carpet! Fortunately, it was at a friend’s house; his dog and his carpet!

Glad to hear you’ve got the new tent Ken, at least you’ll now be warm and dry at the camp.

Cheers
