Maybe The Helix is OK as well

Hi Guys, this image of the helix Neb was also taken on the same night as the Horse Head Neb, maybe you could also make comment and pass judgment on its merit.

This object had also 10 Exp, @ 2. 30 sec's and was taken with the same equipment as the Horsey, it is not cropped, but i have played with it a bit in PS2, mainly levels.

So please, what is your opinion, for a wide field.

ahh mmmmm an honest opinion huh......
its alovely little helix all on its own in cold dark space, just a little too alone.

Still you have captured it and its sharp too.

Can you capture M31 with this rig ... now that could be special.

Thanks Guys, for your opinions, Alchemy, M31 is one that i would dearly love to capture, but alas, it will never be, i am blocked by the shed, and the neighbours big, big tree , i reckon it would come up pretty good, i might just have to set up somewhere in dark skies just for this one.

Some of you have mentioned how lonely some of my objects look floating alone in that wide field of the image.

Well that is true, but i sort of like it like that to be honest, and actually that is the way it is up there in space, i suppose.

I am glad you liked them anyway

Have to agree with you Leon. We rather like your images because of the wider field.

That's a nice widefield Leon, I also like the way you have captured it just hanging the in the void.

It conveys a sense of the vastness of space.

Cheers

I like it Leon. It has a 'cold' space feel.

Are you able to lengthen the exposure time to also capture the outer ring? or don't DSLR's work that way?

Just kick me if I am off on another tangent, I know nothing about DSLR's

Yep, Ken, could lengthen the exposure time to what ever i would like, but then other factors come into play, like light pollution saturation of the images and stuff like that.

However i do feel i could have given it a bit more, but it was hanging over Ballarat and in pretty polluted skies, will wait until it more to the West.
