Helix Nebula with f1.8 Hyperstar

Hi all,
This is my first attempt using my new f1.8 Hyperstar lens with my Celestron GPS11 and Meade DSIc.

It's quite incredible to be able to get such a detailed one shot RGB image of a low mag object at 20x15 seconds (5 minutes) exposure with a $500 camera.
Seeing was 7 out of 10.

If you look carefully I even managed to capture the outer secondary ring.

See more of my images at our Western Sydney Amateur Astronomy club new web site http://wsaag.org

Regards
Gerry

Nice image Gerry, I've been waiting to see an image from the Hyperstar and it certainly looks like it's going to be a winner.

so was that fun to get? Nice image, stars a little bloated but that could just be the camera.

hyperstar

Thanks guys

Yes Leon that was the lens that replaced the seconadry mirror on the gps11.
Very weird to hang a camera off the corrector plate end.

The bloated stars seem to be a DSI trait. I have to get me a decent imager soon. Maybe a Starlight Express svx9 or one of the new breed hitting the market.

f1.8 is amazingly fast - and the results show. Was this taken at the Linden dark sky site?
