Ngc253

Had another go with the DSI at NGC253 last night before the clouds rolled in. This time I saved image in three formats (JPEG, FITS and TIFF). I suspect Envisage is not saving the TIFF format properly but the FITS worked. This is 100 x 8 sec images stacked on the fly.

This was taken with a DSI pro II with a 10" GSO f5 Dob on an EQ6 mount. I haven't worked out how to use the long exposure yet and since I don't have a guide scope I'm quite impressed with the software alignment that Envisage does.

Onya Peter.

Keep pumping that DSI

See how far you can push without guiding (15sec, 20sec,). Envisage will reject them from the stack if they get star trails.

Thanks Ken. I notice you have a DSI - is it the monochrome version and do you have any RGB imaging experience with it?

Nah, I've got the basic DSI-c.
It is the colour version, old model. I am only just learning how to use it myself.

Hi Peter, a very sound result with 8 second subs. I'm sure you should be able to push to 12-15 second images with no real problem.

Looking forward to seeing more.

Ric,

I haven't worked out how to use the long exposure mode - have you?

Hi Peter, I am currently imaging in Alt/Az and work of the scopes tracking which gives good imaging up to around 30 seconds before trailing of the stars sets in. with my scope I need a wedge and go equatorial for longer exposures.

I also use the Drizzle mode and save in Fits3p. That seem to work the best for me when processing in either MaximDL or AutostarIP
