LX90 - Proc. Trap 2 error

Well my luck with my LX90 just seems to be continuiung. I finally got the computer and telescope to talk to each other and did an update of the autostar software. Hand controller was fine, computer said transfer completed. Then i clicked 'connect' to see if the software version was the new one and a message came up on the controller saying "proc. Trap 2". Pressed a few buttons and nothing. Turned the unit off & on again and nothing. So now i've got a $3000 paper weight that says proc. trap 2. Anyone know any way to reset the controller or anything?

Rohan, I think that you can reset everything by pressing 999.

reload the firmware?

WHAT IS PROC TRAP 2 AND WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT? Proc Trap 2
is the catch-all "illegal instruction" trap...your Autostar just tried
to "execute" some data, or a zero. It can also signal memory failure.
The "Erase User Banks" function of the Updater cleans and corrects a
number of memory layout errors which can happen to the Autostar. It's a
major adjustment of the user lists and can correct things that RESET
cannot begin to touch.

Yeah i saw that. I just tried holding down enter and the scroll down key (same as 999 but for etx controlers etc) while turning it on and its gone into "flash load ready" mode. So i'm currently trying another upload, its at 5% so will let you know when its done how it went.

Your a handy guy to have around Terry. You know all sorts of handy computer lingo stuff. Why don't they put important stuff like that in the user manual?

There's a bit of info here. It's for an ETX but it's probably the same for LX90. It may help.

Rohan - suggest you do a reload of the update file onto your PC. The base file may be corrupt. Then do the transfer. I just updated my Lx200 and it went like a breeze.

Well all seems to be good now. The latest update worked and autostar is working fine and holding all my sites (4 in total) so i'll take that as a good sign.

Also just happened to install Starry Night Pro 5. What can i say, i'm in love with it. The telescope controls rock as well the ability to input eyepieces and it'll show you on the screen what you should be seeing. That was the main thing i was after so i can finally check if my GOTOs are on or not. It also managed to connect to my scope first go where the meade software took about 5 attempts.

Thanks for all the help

Hello from Russia.
I have the same problem, like Rohan. "Proc. Trap 2". It appears before inicialization and beeping of handbox. Freezing of all bottons. Pressing "999" did not help. "Enter"+"down arrow" did not help too. Program "ACU" doesn't connect more.
Maybe.. is it another way for "hard reset" the system or some another way for correcting ?

Thank's

P.S. Sorry for my english.

Hey.... and Anton. There are quite a few LX90 users around here now. Let's hope they can help sort you out.
