Lucky you! The forecast for Sydney is more clouds and rain at least until the weekend

On the weekend, it'll be 4 weeks since my last observing session, due to bad weather

How bigs your shoulder iceman. We've got another wet week and weekend coming up too. I don't remember it being this frustrating for ages.

This is what I get for buying a new scope.
Weather forcast for SE QLD today and get a load of the last word.

Tuesday looks to herald further severe storms throughout a large swarth of NSW and southern QLD. A cut off surface low is forecast to form within the trough, increasing windshear. An upper trough is also expected to intensify over the east creating very strong instability and increasing the likelihood of supercell thunderstorms. Very heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hail are likely with some storms, even the possibility of tornadoes
Looks like the scope review will have to wait.

Hi Paul, I see you are from Nambour.
I have relatives up at Umundi.
Will be visiting them soon and was wondering would you like to make a viewing night ?
I have had a few visits with Graeme (Saturn%25) from Laidley only 10 minutes from me .
It's nice to catch up and put a face to the names .

SA's forecast for the next 10 days is wet and raining, with some more rain and more cloud. Gale force winds to 45 knots. Totally

No viewing for the next ten days.

Mark that would be great! I'm about to go on 6 wks holidays (not going away though) so let me know when your heading up this way. If I know when your coming we might be able to go and play here http://www.mapletonss.qld.edu.au/obs.../indexpage.htm . I help out running nights up there and can get access when there are no tour/shows running. Even if not, its still a good dark site only 10 minutes from Nambour.

Or I can pop up to Eumundi np. btw how long has it been since you've been to Eumundi? In the last 12 months or so? Its criminal what they have done to the lovely dark skies up there with the lighting at the new Eumundi highway entrances. I sometimes go out to the Obi Obi near Kenilworth and you can easily see the glow from the intersections over the top of the ranges inbetween Eumundi and Kenilworth.

Let me know when you are thinking of coming up

Clear skies and dark nights
Paul

I can't believe the weather.. 4 weeks and no observing.. no observing since the last new moon.

Had planned to take a friend out to a dark site this weekend too.. I'm guessing that's going to be cancelled

We have had over 25mm of rain in the last 48 hours, have I been asleep for the last 6 months, did I sleep through summer? This weather is wierd and there has been no sign of the monsoon on the weather map. I think that carbon based emissions is really starting to catch up with us. At least the guys in Perth are having a great time.

It might be hot but at least you can observe. Do you have clear skies? The satellite photo showed nice clear skies for your way.
