Question Barlow 2"

Hi

I'm looking for information on th University Optics 2" 2x Barlow.

Have you got one? or used one?

I'm very keen to get a 2" 2x Barlow. I have tested the Tele Vue Big Barlow over the last weekend and I was very happy with the results

But I don't want to jump right in and buy the Tele Vue one. So I'm looking into others. The UO Barlow sounds very good also, but I don't know anyone who owns one. So I'm hoping someone owns one and can advise me

No I'm not buying a GS 2x Barlow thanks.

Thanks for any information.

Hi Dave,

Does it have to be a 2X barlow ? I know you said it did, but thought it worth mentioning the Antares 2" 1.6X barlow. This is a made in Japan, fully multi coated short 2" barlow. Its optical and mechanical quality is good. I would put it a tad short of the 2" 2X Televue but its price is also $AUS 150 landed in Australia which is a lot less than the TV offering.

Hi John,
Yes I would rather have the 2x as it will work better than 1.6x with my eyepiece set.
I got a good price on the UO 2x Barlow. I just want to make sure it is as good as the TV big Barlow.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Sorry to steal your thread, but are there any good 3x barlows out there? That isn't a $400 TV one?

Yeah, I thought as much. Seriously considering a 2x, but I'm waiting to hear what they're like

Hi All
Today my 2" 2x University Optics Barlow arrived

I purchased this Barlow through Frontier Optics. Quick plug for Daniel, the sevice was top rate

The Barlow is huge A bit bigger than I thought. Very well made not a blemish on it. Its half the price of the Tele Vue big Barlow, so it will be interesting how it preforms. All reports i have read say its as good as the Big barlow.

I will do a test on both over the coming months.

Sorry time for rain in Victoria.

Well I have just finished Observing with the new Barlow and

Very happy with it, the Views of Jupiter with the Barlow and my 12 mm Nagler and 8.8 mm UWA were very pleasing. Also the 30mm Super View Barlowed very well. A nice suprise.

I will test it up against the Tele Vue Big Barlow that will be in the future.

So 2 hours of Observing with my new Barlow was a success.
