Cat's Paw and Crab Nebula

Hi Guys,

Took these two last week sometime. There two objects are quite close to each other. Surface area of the Crab is quite dim. Both images Ive used Baader UHC-S and UV/IR filters.

NGC6334 Cat's Paw 11 x 5 minutes exposure at ISO 800
NGC6357 Crab Nebula 11 x 5 minutes exposure at ISO 800

I have never seen the cats paw before.... is it naked eye?

They are two DSO's I have to catch up with, imaging wise.

The Crab Nebula is NGC 1952, M1 in Taurus.
I think you got either the wrong label or wrong picture?

Both lovely images Eric..you have brought out the faint neblosity very nicely indeed!
I knew one had the common name of cats paw but didn`t realise the fainter ngc 6357 had a common name..

cheers guys thanks. not sure if they are naked eye objects davo. surface area is quite dim on those. Brendon, yes M1 is also known as Crab Nebula, this is "The Crab Nebula". maybe its bigger brother

cheers ken. i spent last week reprocessing all the images from the modded 300d folder using the new LCD. Couldnt see all the hidden details before with the CRT monitor.

Great images Eric. Both are visible with a 10" scope and a UHC filter, but only the bright part of 6357.
NGC 6357, resembles a crab or jellyfish according to http://www.allaboutastro.com/Catspaw.html
