RA drive on 200R issues...

I only come here when I need help, poor form , sorry...

Just recently the scopes decided that stars should look like barbells, RA only dec is fine, so pull it to bits and have a squiz...

This is what I find, metal shavings, now I would love to know where these came from, you can see that the driven gear is nylon, the driver is copper, the worm is stainless and the gear is alloy, none of whitch are magnetic. In the picture attached you can clearly see the shavings stuck on the motor housing through magnetism, and there are a few little shards embeded in the nylon gear. Whilst Im not convinced this is the reason for the sudden onset of barbellism, Im open to any help I can get....

Thankyou all

Shawn

Well on close inspection it turms out the spring loaded hinge mechanism that pushes the worm into the gear was not returning to engaged position after me pushing it out of engaged, I should imagine a similar situation would occur after a stop from slew, maybe not as dramatic but present to a lesser degree, I suspect that this has been half the cause of my woes since I bought this machine , with its unpredictable guiding and eronious PECS. just only recently has it become sufficiently annoying for me to do something about it.. Now If I had only have known that you do not have to de-pier it to make this adjustment...the adjustment screw is redilly available behind the swith panel,,,. So while its in bits I might as well clean up and regrease, any other things I should maybe check while Im in there fellow LX200 owners...
