Where is it dark and dry??

Where I live is nice and dark but the rain is driving me bats... I know its great for things but in our game dark and dry is what you need..

I have seriously thought of moving out West ...it would have to be dry, dark and cheap...but where would you go..maybe at the end of a rail line one of those towns everyone has left and you can buy a house and a warehouse for $20,000...or less...it need not be a great investment and I expect you could write off what you spent in real terms..so as little in as it takes.

Its wet here I have three wet country dogs bored out of their mind as am I..cant mow the grass and it sits there growing..I don't like playing with gear in the damp.. so any ideas of places where an old fella like me could go out West getting in some dry dark sky and have dry dogs. Up high may be too much too ask I guess.

I suspect you are right on that point, Alex. While we are certainly high and relatively dry here in recent years (drought), lately we have been getting the clouds but no follow through into rain. I don't think Australia has high plateaus big enough to drop the moisture at the edges and stay dry in the middle of the plateau - and certainly not high enough to get above the cloud!

Have you browsed through the BOM's climate data? That could give some clues... I can see an evening or two for you browsing maps and BOM climate sites!

Al.

Because of my interest in real estate from a professional side I have looked in real estate add books that sort of thing and yes weather maps...I was thinking about why I felt restless earlier today and is more this running up and down the coast ..it has disrupted things and if things dont work out I am here when it dark.. but if I am up there its easier to slip something in ..even a glimpse.

When I had no gear it was always clear...I have logs.. I was stuck a week as a result of the rain last week up there..
sick of it.
Just a bit higher than any river flats around is ok.. up home it helps when there is fog.
Thank you Al

Things will change Alex, they always do. Sometimes I think the "Clerk of The Weather" has a down on me too. Patience is a virtue my old mum used to tell me.

Trying o keep three bush dogs happy on a city block with a no fences covenant tries ones patience..

Well I am having a grizzle in the drizzle.

No doubt this all comes from signing the 3 billion dollar desalinator contract and someone buying a new water tank...now those purchases are worse than astronomy gear...

On the good side global warming has been headed off now that Russia is buying our yellow cake... put the GW protesters away they have served their purpose. makes my earlier ramblings as to the vested interests and GW seem silly really...when we have all the contracts signed the GW problem may just disappear..or at least go and hide with the Y2k bug.

Next it will be more troops sent to end the war faster...in response to that side of the protest... thank goodness its raining in the city I guess that should cool the situation ..one that showed promise of some real nastiness..

Could be worse one could own racehorses .. how would you like that situation... all locked up and no where to go... poor things..the horses not the owners.

I did not go in to see the protest when I heard they had a chopper in the air with a sniper aiming out the door....
I look so shoot-able with a beard and long hair.

Who ever wants rain call by you can have all of it

Even looking at Hubble shots gets a bit much after a while.. I just need some dry... even a peek from here in Sydney would be so uplifting.
