Exclamation Welcome to the new look IceInSpace Forums!

Well the upgrade is done!

The forums are now running vbulletin v3.0.7, so take some time to look around at the new features. There's extra options in your user control panel, which you can find under the "User CP" option below the logo up the top.

If you have any questions about features you find, or how to do something you used to be able to do, use this thread to post it in.

The style and colours have changed as well, as you can tell It's not 100% complete, expect that there may be a change or two still to come in the next few weeks. If you've got comments or feedback about the style and colours, please use this thread to post it in. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

A couple of notes:
  • Image attachments are now stored on the filesystem instead of the database (good for our backups! )
  • Images will be shown as a thumbnail. Click the thumbnail to see the larger size.
  • You can attach 3 images to a single post now, just press the "Manage Attachments" button and it's pretty self-explanatory.
  • The quick-reply box is simply that, for a quick-reply. If you want added features such as attachments, click "Go Advanced" or hit the normal "Post Reply" button.
  • At the bottom of each thread is a "Similar Threads" search summary.
  • In your profile, you can now have a "Profile Picture"
  • We will relax the image posting guidelines a bit in a few days, thanks to the attachment changes and thumbnails as mentioned above.
  • I've added a couple of extra "hacks" (mods) at the bottom of the index page - "Members that have posted today" and "Users that have visited today".
  • The "Private Messages" link is now on the top right of the main index page.
  • The "Newest user/Total # of posts/threads" is now at the bottom of the main index page.
That's about it!

One important thing to note: A big thankyou to those who have donated to IceInSpace. Without their contributions, this upgrade could not have occurred.

Any questions or problems, post here!

At first glance it looks good Mike and Terry. I'm sure you'll get hammered today. Hope your typing fingers are warmed up. Once question though, have you done away with my favourite link button "View New Posts"?

Thanks Paul.

It's gone from where it was yesterday, but it's still available under the "Quick Links" menu underneath the logo.

I'll consider putting it back where you're used to it, once I've collated everyone else's suggestions and feedback

It's gonna take some time to get used to the new format. Looks pretty smart though.
Keep up the good work Mike.
How do I donate? Can I paypal you Mike? Transferring to an Aussie bank account is too expensive in terms of fees for transfer & currency conversion.
Cheers

Mike, the stuff we include in our sig, i.e. scope, camera details, web address etc could all go in the banner next to our avatar and save on post length.

I love the new look, Mike. Very slick and easy on the eye. I especially like the new system for posting attachments. The calendar is a great idea... did we have that before?

I like the 'Quick reply to this message' button.
Was that on the old layout?

Yep, it was always there, but was hidden up on the top right next to the logo.

Ive noticed that using the quick reply , it automatically subscibes you to that thread.
How do you remove that option? I couldnt find anything related to this in my profile apart from instant notification checkbox.
I might have been bedazzled by the new layout and couldnt see it.

I found it. Its in user cp.

In the members list we don't seem to have the option of checking members By Date Joined any more.......I found this option much easier for finding New members.

You still can John, click on the memberlist, and click on the "Join Date" heading to sort it. You may need to click again as by default it sorts it in the opposite order you're after.

This is different! Gonna take some getting used to though. Seems a bit easier on the eyes.

Can't comment yet as I need to look around a bit more.
