M17 Swan Nebula from A.S.I.G.N.

I had a slight tracking problem, which means I will be doing this one again, however, I am still very happy with the image data. It was good practice.

7 x 4 Minute exposures, stacked on Deep Sky Stacker with offsets and darks removed. Cropped and resized.

Manual guided Canon400D on Skywatcher Pro series ED80.

Bazz, it's a pity you had a tracking problem. Gonna look terrific when you get it sorted, there's heaps of detail there waiting to jump out, and lots of nice nebula showing up

yep Baz, looks pretty darn good considering!

Get that guiding working and you are well underway to fine images!

Are the tracking errors on all of the subs?

Looks pretty good Baz, looks like deepskystacker didn`t do a good job with the stacking!
Maybe try stacking them in PS manually?
But other than that it looks very promising!!!

Terrific Baz the nebula has heaps of detail there and it really does look like the "Swan" as you see it visually.

Can't wait to see the next try with improved tracking

It's definitely tracking Gary,

All the subs have long stars. I think it's because of 2 reasons.
1. I had the ISO on 1600. Didn't realise it until after the session. I will drop to a more forgiving ISO800 next time and do more subs.

2. Also, the guide star I used for manual tracking was too dim. I had to use averted vision sometimes to see it, so I couldn't keep it accurately centred.

It's gonna look great when you get tracking/ guiding under control, there is lots of nebula that you have captured there!
