The Atik 1 c is a commercially modified for long exposure air cooled ToUcam
manufactured by Perseu in Portugal
I have used this quite a lot-initially for imaging (with an ETX 70) and for the last couple of years, as a guide camera, so it shows external signs of wear and tear. Works fine of course.
I would not sell it except for the fact that I cannot use it any more as my new laptop does not have a parallel port, which is required for this camera to operate in long exposure mode
I wouldn't really recommend it for imaging but if your laptop has a parallel port then it makes a great guide camera. I have never ever had a problem with finding a guide star at 1 or maximum 2 seconds exposure.
you can use it without the long exposure mode with just the usb cable but that defeats the purpose of the long exposure mod
The chip has probably got a few icckies-dust-I havent cleaned the sensor in years, but a bit of pure isopropyl alchol will do the job-but for guiding it hardly matters.
software-I have the Atik original CD but it is really just K3CCD (the version that used to be free) and the toUcam drivers
I think I paid close to $500 for it..cant really remember exactly
