Don`t laugh! my attempt at Jupiter!!

Hi again everyone,..

With the great seeing on the 26th here and the moon too bright for deepsky. I thought I would give my little newt a go at jupiter and the moon.
You can laugh if you want but I think its not too bad for a single frame and a 6" newt.
I am not much of a planetary imager as I don`t really know how to process them.
Just a single frame with a 5x powermate and a old 2x teleconverter and a hat trick for the exposure. This is the best frame out of about 100 I took that night.
No Mike or Bird image here!!!!
But I had fun anyhow..

Hi Gary - I'm no expert, but if that's a single frame out of an AVI then I reckon you've got some pretty good data there!

Have you tried stacking in Registax or something? It would be great to see what you get!

Thanks Rob, but no AVI to process...bummer, just single shots with my canon 300d DSLR. Only kept the best 20 frames and only about 10 would be similar to this one..not really enough to stack..
I have a new Toucam but no pc to plug it in too!!! I think I would have got a good run if I had been able to use it!! but I had fun anyway. Got some nice single moon shots too to play with!!

I think you have a good image to process. It's hard to obtain something like that from the equipment used. Compliments.

Try to stack 10 frames and then process them.

Good photo Gary. Keeping going with it. And i agree with the rest of the guys run the AVI through Registax and bring out the rest.

Did you see the moon you captured in the frame as well. Left hand side

Get that ToUcam in there Gary, you'll get much better shots. But of course you need a laptop for that.

Not a bad effort for a single exposure - how long was the exposure?

Thanks Anto, Isporn, Ian and Mike. I thought they came out pretty good for a 6" newt!, you should have seen the shots through my 4" refractor!!, jup was really small!!
Yeah Ian, I did notice that I caught 3 moons in the full frame of jupiter which is pretty cool!!
The exposure time would have been around 1/4 to 1/3 sec at iso 100 Mike, I found that if I used the old hat trick method the pics came out much better as I think the mirror and shutter introduced too much vibration.. another benefit with streaming ccd cam. Oh system operating at f/56 and you can see every little dust mote!!..I think the sensor may need a clean soon!!
When my little shed is finished I should be able to throw in a old pc and get that toucam in action!!...
