Flying Cocky and the Townsville sunrise

Hello everyone,

I am no photo genious, but like most I like to take photos of things that are going on around me. I was lining this cocky up for a flying photo, when he must have spotted me and taken a sudden change of direction. I was lucky that he ended up in the frame, and turned out to be an unusual shot. Thought it might be interesting to post and see what everyone thought. The second shot is of the sunrise from my front patio the other morning. My camera is a basic Kodac DX4330 point and shoot jobby.

Excellent shots Rex! The cocky certainly is interesting, and wow those clouds are beautiful in the sunrise. Do you get dark skies up there?

Thanks guys.

Yes Mike i suppose I do get what you call dark skys. We live on 20 acres about 20 minutes out of the suburbs. If I look towards the north east there is a bit of sky glo, but anywhere from north right around to south east is nothing but scrub. have already set the savings plan in motion to upgrade to a 12" dob. can't wait until that happens.

Its hard to tell from that pic Ving but the cocky was actually flying between two trees from right to left of the photo. When he saw me he decided to do a 180 degree turn and go back the way he came. Inevitably this is what allowed me the time to re-point the camera and get a quick snap.
