TRADED: William Optics Megrez 80

TRADED: Thanks, Chris.

This is an original Megrez Mk I, 80mm f/6. It is SD 'semi-apo'. Although there is some false colour on planets and bright stars, the optics are sharp.

The fit and finish are classic William Optics. The focuser is single speed but is very smooth. Some small marks on the tube that just need a bit of patience to clean off. I think they're from the inside of the dew shade as it's a bit tight (thought it was normal when I got the scope).

Optics are very clean and remarkably dust-free. Includes soft case and 2" WO diagonal (that came with the scope). Case shows some signs of wear inside but in full working order.

This scope is light enough to use on a not-too-heavy-duty camera tripod (I use a Slik 300DX). The clamshell shown in the photo is not included. The scope has a built-in L-bracket with three 1/4-20 holes (bracket can be removed).

If I don't get the right deal I'm happy to keep it as this was the first 'quality' scope I ever bought. However, I have a Megrez 90 on order so I don't suppose it will see a lot of use for astronomy. It does get some daytime use but something slightly smaller would be more practical for me.

Ideally I'd like a trade for a William Optics 66mm scope (possibly with some cash changing hands as well).

Regards

Morton

Thanks Morton

Enjoy the 66. If you have any issues with focus, given the Petzval idiosyncrasies, don't hesitate to give me a holler!

Here's the moon (on the WO gallery) I did a while ago using that scope:
