M20 Trifid - First attempt

This is our first attempt at imaging Trifid.

The night was freeeeezing -2 deg..Conditions were only fair and we hadn't checked alignment. Just plonked our scope out quickly so we could try our new MPCC filter.

Anyway here it is

4x30sec 4x60sec ISO 800 5X Darks Cropped ......... Pentax DSLR

Thanks for the comments guys.

When we referred to plonking the scope out quickly... We have three holes which the tripod sits into the grass and at the moment it's pretty waterlogged and we hadn't had the scope out for about 6 weeks so we weren't sure how good our tracking would be and we didn't want to spend time freezing our butts off to get it right.

So we just put it out fired away and hoped for the best

Nice shot!

You call that cold? Try spending an hour or two outside at my place... It is 1070meters above sea level and in the middle of outback Australia... It gets down to around -10 some nights here... Brr

Hi Barb and Dave, you've nailed that image for a plonk and test. The colours and depth are great, hardly any trailing at all either.

A very nice image overall.

Cheers
