Hyperion is Porous

An article in nature today confirms that Hyperion (one of Saturn's moons) is porous all the way through. It lacks the mass for it's own gravity to consolidate it into a solid rocky moon. This means some other small low density bodies may also be porous rock rather than low density ices.

Could it be similar in composition to comets?? Very intriguing!

Mate – you had me reaching for my Baader 21mm Hyperion to check it out for water ingress, before I read your full article.

Cheers
