find my phone tracking app, some advice please

Hi Guys my Alice has suggested that we should have an app on our Iphones that can locate each other in an emergency and the like.

Not for tracking her when she goes to Cole's and that sort of stuff, but just be able to locate her if necessary.

I have looked at a couple on line and they tell me it is free, but when ones digs a little deeper it is not at all free and needs a monthly subscription or a outlay of some sort.

So is there a fee app that maybe others use and easy to use for an old bugger like me.

Thank You in advance.

Leon

Hi Leon

I can't answer your question, but, those who could may need to know if your phones are Android, Apple or something else.

Good luck

Hi Leon,

iPhones have this functionality already built in. See if it works for you and your family: https://support.apple.com/en-au/105104

Hey Phillip thanks for your response, however I was pretty sure I had mentioned that we had IPhones

I was not aware that IPhones already had this ability, thank you, however my Phone is not the latest edition so from
reading that link it may not even work, I will give it a try and see what happens

Leon,
Apple airtags are designed for tracking down lost luggage but they should work for locating any "old bag," or "curmudgeleon."

They communicate with any passing apple phone and report the location of the tag back to the user.

Do you know which version are your iPhones? "Find My" is the name of the app that lets you track members of your "Apple family account", as some others have already mentioned here.

Based on what you've described what you want to do, it's probably exactly what you're looking for. If, in addition, you also want to be able to track other things such as your keys, wallet, bike, etc. then you can purchase AirTags (also mentioned in an earlier post), and physically install/attached them in those items, then track them using the same "Find My" app.

The good thing about Apple tech is that it's designed to be simple to use, so I'm sure you'll be able to get it to work for you, however the only question is whether your particular iPhone model supports this app/functionality.

Also, I should mention, "Find My" is completely free and creating an "Apple family account" (basic one) is also free.
