Fenrir, the Dark Wolf

This version of the Dark Wolf is named after Fenrir, the monstrous wolf from Norse mythology. It sits in the tail of Scorpius, not too far from the Prawn nebula. It also has the designation SL-17 and is a dark nebula against the backdrop of the large emission nebula RCW 113.

Good weather (finally!!) in June allowed me to capture this from my Bortle 7/8 backyard in Sydney. I managed 6 hours of narrowband with an Antlia ALP-T filter, with an extra half hour of broadband for the stars with an Optolong L-Pro filter.

I captured this with a Skywatcher MN190 and ZWO ASI2600mc camera.
Larger version and capture details available here: Astrobin Fenrir

I'm pretty happy with how this turned out ,
Pete

Top result Peter, lots of fury detail and as I said on AB, due the almost monochrome palette, it really has the feel of a fine art screen print, which is rather unique, very nice.

Peter,
Excellent result from your 2600MC and that Antlia filter.
Image looks so clean considering your imaging under Sydney’s HUGE light dome and only 6 hours of data !!! I usually have to capture considerably more data to peg back the noise floor when imaging from my B8 location in Sydney with my Newt.
Nicely processed
Well done !!

Martin

Cheers Mike! I would've liked a bit more colour in the stars. Perhaps I don't need the L-Pro filter if I'm just collecting short exposures for RGB stars (even with my brightly lit skies) or perhaps I could try a slightly different workflow?

Sounds like a possible answer..? Worth trying.
