It pays to have an independent email address like a gmail, hotmail, or outlook. If your email address is a provider address eg
joe.blow@bigpond.com then you probably can't port it to a different provider.
I live in the country where there is no NBN to the home, only satellite options. I use a mobile device for everything, telecom, plus mobile hotspot for internet. It gives me between 7Mbps and 30Mbps depending on the network performance at any given time. Costs me $35 per month. I get 55GB of data per month banked if I don't use it plus unlimited calls and texts. I don't stream TV through internet, I use free to air and occasionally stream something to my laptop.
