Eta Carina, another "remote control guide session"
Hi
Used the Phillips webcam on the off axis guider to show a star on the laptop display and guide with that.
2x15 mins ISO 200 uv/ir filter only, and MPCC. Houghys cooled 350D, sensor temp -1 deg. 10 inch f5.6 Newtonian. Taken on the 22nd of June, on a rare night free of cloud.

Thanks all
The scope's mirror was made my Mark Sutching, so is nice and accurate (full thickness Pyrex) , its recently been coated by Issacc of Chi Qin Co in Sydney (Quartz o/coated), and I use a Multipurpose Coma Corrector (MPCC). Thats amazing, eliminating all coma. The image is full frame no cropping. (350D has 2/3 sized sensor). So, yes the MPCC is the best thing for any Newtonian from about F4 to F6, even working on my 6 inch F3.6 meade Schmidt Newtonian

Magnificent image Scott. Well composed and colour balanced. I'm not certain if its noise in the dim areas or jpg compression artifacts scattered around the image (probably the latter). It would appear you've nailed the guiding. Looking forward to seeing what you can do if you went deeper with the set up.
Thanks all
Heres the full size version http://www.iceinspace.com.au/uploads...ooled-1big.jpg
The laptop sits a few metres away from the scope, I sit on a seat beside the slow motion dec hand control, with the RA drive corrector comtrol in my hand facign the laptop. Much easier then standing and staring through the off axis guider eyepiece. Magnification is too much as the comatic guidestar is very spread out. Ive orfered the 40mm plossl and special adaptor that screws directly onto the webcam http://www.telescopes-astronomy.com....am_philips.htm
go down to the 2 pics of an airconditioner to see the smaller scale. This should concentrate the starlight over a smaller area.
