LMC - 16 panel mosaic

Hi all,
Finally tried out the Mosaic/Plan mode in AsiAir - previous mosaic attempts have been DIY planned efforts which I enjoyed, but wanted to automate the acquisition process.

Thought I'd go large by trying a 4x4 panel of the LMC using the Askar 400 using SHO filters

Just to push things for the hell of it, each panel comprised a single 30min sub for each NB filter.

PI File and project sizes became a bit cumbersome for my Macbook Pro 16/40 to handle, but I struggled through!!

Stars from the Ha images were used as the results of the NB to RGB script in Pixinsight weren't up to par.

Processed SHO and HOO images from data set to completion, then combined using ImageBlend script.

Experiments all!

Askar FRA400 ZWO ASI2600MM ProZWO AM5N Chroma H-alpha 3nm /OIII 3nm /SII 3nm

Chroma H-alpha 3nm Bandpass 36 mm: 16×1800″(8h)
Chroma OIII 3nm Bandpass 36 mm: 16×1800″(8h)
Chroma SII 3nm Bandpass 36 mm: 16×1000″(4h 26′ 40″)

Big version...

Thanks for looking

30min subs?! I think that's been overlooked here, that's great performance.
Awesome result - this is the best part of the sky IMO.

30min madness Adam! First time I'd attempted a 16 panel mosaic, so I thought I'd try to catch as much detail in a single sub just to try out the process for size - admittedly, the law of diminishing returns probably kicked in after 18mins or earlier, but I like to push things a bit sometimes for fun!
I'd like to try the same project again 'for real' soon doing multiple subs - lots more work, but the effort is worth it with these big mosaics.

I'm still amazed that those single 30min subs didn't pick up multiple satellite trails!!
