Taken last night with the Canon Powershot.
28x10sec exposures stacked and processed in DeepSkyStacker.
This time at ISO 400. Noticably less grain compared to ISO 800.
I had finished taking the pics when I realised that I didn't set focus to infinity. Oh well.
I found that any other processing degraded the image. Is it a case of more is less?
Ric,
Having the ISO set to 400 helped a lot. ISO 800 is virtually useless in this camera.
I would be interesting to know to what mag the little camera is capturing.
At the risk of reoffending, again, you dont do yourself justice. A simple curve adjustment in PS bought out lots more detail, now I can see the coal sack.
Thanks Fred, I was having trouble gleaning info out of the pic.
LOLOL Guiding? what's that? I just plonked the camera on the tripod and started snapping away.
Next time I'll try to stack more images and see what that will do. I've never tried using a dark frame to improve an image, guess that will be the next thing to learn.
I use PaintShop Pro. It has some pretty good functions.
Otherwise I use Irfanview, which takes the adobe plugins.
The only adjustments I made on these wide fields was from within the DeepSkyStacker program.
Here's the info about the photo.
If there is anything I should change, let me know. I left white balance on auto, would it help to change that?
