A new class of fossicker ?

I've just put out a lot of junk for the council cleanup, which included a PC case with perfectly good motherboard and Athlon XP 3000 processor n( not worth upgrading due to memory type ) . I knew it would be fossicked so I thoughtfully inserted the motherboard manual into the case. Within 15 minuted I spotted what looked like someone with his head in the case and a set of tools. i checked later to find that the guy had just removed the CPU and fan and left the motherboard and case

I'm amazed at how quickly stuff disappears from the front lawn at council pickup time.

Rubbish Pick Up

A few months back we had a council pick up and out went a 25 year old upright freezer. The Council however refused to collect it as it contained refrigerant (Seems stupid to me - a clean up is a clean up and how does one get rid of fridges?? )
ANYWAY I left it outside on the grass and wrote in black pen on it "It works"
On the second day my wife spotted 2 blokes lifting it into their pick up truck, so being nosey she went downstairs and asked them if they wanted to plug it in to test it. " Oh no, love we aren't using it as a fridge - it's going to be our new esky in our boat!"
What she didn't tell them was how it had been full of mice for the last few years and heaps of polystyrene beads had already fallen out Not much insulation left..

Where I used to live, we had a street bower bird - any large items of "junk " we had, I'd just put on the footpath, any day, any time - would always disappear - had an old rusty, dirt encrusted barbeque go in under 2 hours once.....

I hired a mini skip when I was shifting out of my house to move into the marital home.
3 times I had the skip nearly full when this old fellow would come along with his ute and virtually empty it. "You've got some good stufff you're throwing away lady" LOL. Most of my stuff was 3rd or 4th hand when I got it, so I don't know what he was going to do with it.

I've always had the opposite problem with skips - buggers adding their own junk under cover of darkness.....
