Why Did These Batteries Go Bad?

I had them at the bottom of a zip lock bag with some small tools. They are about six months old. Seems like a powdery substance grew out of them. How do you store your batteries? Left click the image. Thanks to you all

Hi there it seems to me a moisture problem, and no airflow being locked in a zip lock bag.

Secondly having them loose where they can contact each other positive to negative is also not a good way of storage.

If you want them in a zip lock bag put a small moisture absorbent sachet in the zip lock bag as well.

I store batteries for years and if you do it right there is no problems.

Definitely no other metallic objects in with them. I tend to buy the large Duracell packs when they are on special and find the packaging is the best storage medium. Other than that I have quite a few Eneloop rechargeable batteries.

Called “durahell” batteries. They used to be worlds best back yr 1998’ish. They the got cheap instead of crimping the case they glued it together. They now “all” leak!

Never ever buy Durahell again they will fail and leak prematurely and their warranty is worth squat! I’ve tried.

Use energiser ….never use Durahell! Need proof….read the “tech head blog” at EEVBLOG on them ! It’s an entertaining read and by the end you will flee Durahell batteries.

Makes me angry even remembering their name!
