Barb, very nice, but the res as posted doesnt do it justice. Make yourself a free Googlepages website, easy, through your browser set up, a 5 min job, no apps to download, no advertising!.

Too many great images here get buried in artifacts due to small low res posts.

Sorry for the rant, do your self a favour ;-).

We're using very basic equipment compared to others on the forum so we can't expect to have the same results and as beginners and we're in the older age bracket we appreciate your encouraging comments.

We're using a Skywatcher 8" Newt - EQ5 mount dual drives - " rack and pinion focuser " and basic Pentax ist DL

We haven't mastered our polar alignment yet and we have just attached our new low profile focuser and now have a Laptop. We also now have a 2 X right angle finder for the camera which will help our old eyes with focusing

So hopefully we can improve on our earlier images with our alignment more accurate and equipment to help with focus.

Just waiting for the weather to break towards the end of the week to test the new extras

Nice result. Perhaps longer exposures will bring out the detail once you get your polar alignment sorted. If you’ve got a web cam, software such as pempro can quickly assist you in drift aligning. Web cam or CCD alignment provides great accuracy in detecting drift than the eye.

The more you rework your data, the more you'll learn. You work hard to collect the data at the telescope, so make sure you maximise its potential through image processing.
