Starlings in Tamworth

I see on the news tonight that Tamworth is shutting down the CBD tonight to all traffic, they're gonna corner thousands of starlings into nets and hit them with CO2 to kill them, they have to control their numbers....apparently the droppings are creating a health issue....a shame but a must i guess!

Hi Outmanyep,

Thats the same in Sydney and the bats at the Botanical Gardens. There's literally thousands of them these days and the droppings and smell is pretty bad. It puts a bit of a damper on the place cause it does look quite messy. Unfortunately no real solution has come about in doing something about it.

The bats are part of the Sydney basin, but the numbers have shot thru the roof in recent years.

That said, the cockatoos have also invaded many parts of Sydney due to the drought. Once a novel bird to see, now a real nuisance, not to mention some of the damage they do.

Should I mention those Ibis birds too ?
