Camera & setup refinements for solar and beyond
As I am sure many of you do, once in a while you stop and reflect on the astro gear you have. What you can move on and sell, areas to improve and parts to upgrade.
As I have around 6 various configs/rigs I like to use, some are used a lot more than others and some need some refining.
The rig/s that need working out are my solar rigs.
Currently I have one camera (Player One Neptune-M) for my solar imaging (shared between 2 setups and now a potential third). I use it with my Lunt50 & Daystar Quark with a 120/1000 refractor. Solar setups below.
- Quark + 120/1000 refractor (sun close ups)
- Lunt50 (sun full disc)
- White light + 72/420 refractor (sun full disc) - new
Wanting to get a second camera so I can have at least two setups going and imaging.
The Neptune-M has the 178 sensor and I understand that the ASI174MM or the Player One Apollo-M (174 sensor) & Apollo-Max (432 sensor) are the cameras to get when using a Quark. The reason I ended up with the Neptune-M was obviously the price being almost $500 cheaper at the time of purchase.
Should I purchase the required camera to use with the Quark & dedicate the Neptune-M for the Lunt and white light? Or should I purchase something like the Apollo-M Mini for the Lunt and white light and keep using the Neptune-M for the Quark?
OR is there another option?
Wanting to match the camera with the scope as best as I can and hoping I can get some assistance with matching the camera specs with the scope.
