Polarex 102mm Equatorial

Hi Guys

I have a Polarex equatorial 102mm f15 for sale

we are greatly downsizing, so it's drawn the short straw.

This scope is rare in Australia and commands premium prices in the US and other countries - It is a scope that demands respect for its excellence in design and manufacture and performance. It is in my opinion, another example of functional industrial art worthy of not only its purpose for excellent visual observation, but also to be presented and admired. Unfortunately I have not been using this as I should have, and it has been stored away for the last 3-4 years in a purposely made cardboard box.

I am thinking AUD$1,500 and I welcome inspections. Please message me and I am happy to discuss by phone

DETAILS
It was bought and imported from the Netherlands in 2005, If I remember correctly.
The instrument is mounted perfectly on its well engineered and proportioned mount, stable and buttery smooth.
Please take note of the focuser, as many Polarex's did not come with this configuration- Many have asked if the focuser is original- the answer is absolutely it is - this scope came with what was known as the 'super focuser' however this version lacks the focus scale however.

The scope also comes with the original Solar rod and screens, an original Dec Slow motion cable, as well as a 1.25" Eyepiece holder modernising the instrument

The legs are not original but made to spec and are made of milled customised hardwood and very attractive.
The scope also has 2 objective lenses -A 102mm Unitron/polarex 'Green' spec lens and cell, and a newer VIXEN spec 105mm f14.6 Magnesium Fl coated lens purchased from Japan in 2010. The latter is mounted in a machined cell that screws into the existing Polarex housing.

The 105mm lens tests much better that the 'Green spec' and compares almost identically to an FS102 I had the pleasure in using.

This is a coveted piece of astronomy history and I would like it to go to someone who will appreciate its performance but also its significance to this hobby

Thank you for reading this

Steve
