HDR 1st attempt (and now a 2nd attempt)

I have downloaded the free version (limited features) of 'EasyHDR' to give it a try.

EasyHDR is a program that stacks images of differering exposure times and enhances the final image by only stacking prominent features in each layer.

In this instance, my first attempt at using it, I stacked 6 images of Orion. The 1st image is only the trap at 1 second. Then the trap at 2 seconds, then trap and some gas at 5 seconds etc right up to the whole nebula at 120 seconds.

The final image shows the trap stars in amongst the bright nebula, which are usually burnt out at 120 seconds.

Pretty cool huh!

It is normally fairly impossible to get an image of the whole Nebula and still see the trap stars.

I have a long way to go working out how to get the image to look better in this program, but I managed to get the Trap stars to show up amongst the bright core! I'm on my way . . wahoooo!

Sorry about the quality drop, but It is my first go.

Thanks Zander.

Over the last 2 years I have imaged Orion in so many different colours!!!

It's amazing the difference that capture settings make. For example: The bright Red one below was captured using only 50% brightness on the Toucam. Brightness was down but the H-Alpha light poured thru.

All fun, just like playing with EasyHDR now

OK,
Bert rang me today to help me with using EasyHDR properly. Apparently I didn't have everything lined up exactly right and a few other things that had to be tweaked. Ain't learning new stuff fun!!!!

So, after 4 hours of re-sizing each image, fiddling, aligning, entering each image individually, HDR stacking and finally clicking on 'Process', here is the finished product! I reckon it was worth 4 hours work

Thank you very much Bert

1. Orion Nebula in Full Glory with the Trapezium visible!!!!!!!
2. A close up of the Trap area coz I'm still amazed that it is visible in the glow!!
