How wide can you go?

This is one galaxy that pops up on this forum now and again but maybe not taken with such a short focal length and from light polluted skies. I knew it was going to look small but cropping it wasn't going to do it any justice, so I left it full frame. 80 minutes unguided with the SW Esprit 100 and Fujifilm X-T100.

Thanks Ath10, yes, plenty of space around 6744. I'm glad I got it right in the middle of the frame.

Crikey! Making it feel every bit of its 30mil light years distance from us. I wonder if someone in 6744 is looking back at us … makes the mind boggle. Nice

The wider view looks great and really emphasizes the vastness of space.

I think it's great Michael, super wide is a great thing. Just for fun, if you get a starless you can often easily make out background galaxies that were almost hidden in the starfield, love it.

Thanks John, fortunately the stars couldn't hide this one but you're right, there are other galaxies amongst the starry background that would have benefitted without the stars.

Thanks JA, if the night had not been so windy, I would have used one of my larger Newtonians but these would have acted like Wind Socks under such conditions, so I stuck to the small Refractor.

I often think the same Alex, it's hard to comprehend the size of these galaxies that, despite the imense distance from us, render their shape in a 4 inch refractor.

Hi Michael..I posted a reply, or so I thought, and realising that none appears let me say you have produced a fine image and I certainly like it.
Wide is good ..everything is good..but we must qualify all things as good rather than find fault for obscure reasons.
