Two days of sunspots

1st Aug. Another cloudy day generally but I found a small clear patch of sky around 2 pm to get an image of the Sun's spots. I have also included an image from 30th July to compare. Both single exposures with Canon 550d at 540 nm. Lots of spots at the moment of varying sizes. Thanks for viewing.

PS. Sunspot numbers for July have come in at an av. monthly count of 159.1. This is slightly lower than June's count of 163.4.

Nice images John. Interesting that there wasn't that much of a drop in July's figures.

Hi John,

Still those are very healthy numbers with us still some 12 -18 months out from the solar maximum, which I recall a few years ago being predicted as likely to be weak for this solar cycle (25) - I think not. Warm weather is ahead.

Well done on the lovely detailed images.

Best
JA
