NGC 6188 in Ha

This is 84mins ( 21 X 4mins @ 5000 iso ) of Ha last night under the quarter moon. 7nm Ha filter using a Fujifilm X-T100 and SW Esprit 100. Didn't plate solve, just used Apha Centauri for a one star alignment and also used it to focus the Ha filter, then sent the GOTO to ngc 6188. Managed to get the Dragon's egg in the bottom right of the frame. The colour shot is a play in PS with the raw data from the camera without ditching the green and blue channels to isolate the Ha.

Well done, Michael. Plenty of detail to be seen in the Ha image, and the colourised one is very dark and moody.

The only advice I can offer is to crop the left-most 1/4 of the image so the dragons are more centered in the image. (Then again, use of negative space in terrestrial photography is a useful composition tool. So I'm all confused now...)

Oh, and Happy Friday!

Cheers,
V

Thanks John. I know, I just wish it didn't take so much exposure to stimulate the OSC sensor!

Thanks Steve, gotta love Fridays, I just wonder if they'll feel the same when I retire. To be honest, this was just an experiment with the camera to see what it's capable of. I know what you mean, it does look unbalanced. If I had intended to use the data at a later stage I would have rotated and centred the image better.

Now come on Alex, you know you can and do produce some great images. No need to wish with your skills and experience.

Thanks Dave, the beauty of working with a B/W image is you can make dramatic changes without ruining the colour!

Wow Mick, that's quite a decent Ha effort of the dragons mate - heaps of fine detail coming through! Nice stars for 4min exposures to boot!
...and that camera a real winner.
Awesome stuff.
Anthony

Thanks Alex, gotta love these Ha filters, they laugh at the moon and light pollution!

Thanks Anthony, yeah, the Fujifilm camera has turned out to be a good purchase. I have to confess, I used Autoguiding for this one. The 7nm Ha requires a lot of exposure with the unmodded camera but every sub I shot was a good one.
