Astro imaging in Mudgee NSW

Had a family short break farm stay in Mudgee NSW, was very lucky with 3 perfectly clear and calm nights

*** Rho Ophiuchi and Blue Horsehead ***

Scope: Askar FMA180
Mount: AM5
Camera: ZWO ASI533MC Pro with UV/IR filter
Guiding: OAG with ASI120 Mini
Rho Ophiuchi: 200x60secs subs
Blue Horsehead: 60x180secs subs

*** remaining images taken with FSQ106 ***
Scope: FSQ106-EDX3 with 1.6x extender
Mount: AM5
Camera: ZWO ASI533MC Pro with UV/IR filter
Guiding: OAG with ASI120 Mini

NGC300: 55x300s
M83: 10x180sNGC7293 (Helix): 55x300s
M100: 5x300s

Did not plan to capture the M100, it was very low on the horizon 5Deg, just experimented with it while waiting for NGC7293 to rise.

All processed with Pixinsight, NoiseXT, BlurXT, StarXT

Nice images under dark skies in Mudgee
Glad you scored some clear sky time
Well done !!
Did you visit the Mudgee Observatory ?
John and Mary who have operated it for decades have relations down near my private observatory 7km north of Ulladulla. My wife belongs to the local outriggers club with Mary’s sister.
Small world
Cheers
Martin

Lovely work Victor, some decent images captured there, you were indeed very lucky to score 3 nights in a row, keep up the good work.

excellent care to share the farm stay location at all? (happy if it's on PM?). I'm always looking for places to stay outside of Sydney that are friendly to astro imaging.

Hi Martin,

No didn't visit the Mudgee Obs, totally forgot about it Did stroll around the charming town of Mudgee and visited a few vineyards. We visited mid week, so many were closed, nevertheless was still a very good short break and really enjoyed the regional area. Our first time to Mudgee and will definitely re-visit, perhaps will visit the Mudgee Obs next time.

Hi Adam,

We stayed at Peppertree Hill Farm (https://peppertreecollection.com.au/...ppertree-farm/)

There are numerous cottages on the property, I picked the "Cattleyard", as it suit my family of 3, plus it was on a hill, a bit away from the rest of the cottages, so I wont have stray lights or fire pit lights from the others if they decide to stay up all night.

The property is about 12km from Mudgee, far away enough from the main town light, but not too far if we need to drive in for groceries or food, so it was perfect.

Hi Victor,

Lovely images
I particularly like the blue Horsehead.
Being able to image from a dark sky is wonderful.

Richard.
