Too good to be true - and it was! 9 June 2023

It looked like we were going to score two days in succession. We went out early and the sky was clear and Jupiter was looking superb. So we set up waiting for the sun. By the time we could start imaging we got 15 minutes and the high clouds rolled through yet again ... sigh! We did manage to grab some close up 540nm images of most of the active regions. Ironically for the short time we had the seeing was probably as good as we get. Average seeing was 0.9 arc seconds with a standard deviation of 0.5.

These are great results. I have to admit to having had only passing interest in solar photography and observation, but with the sun entering a more active phase, there are an increasing number of images being produced that are quite interesting and damned impressive. My compliments on these.

As we approach solar maximum there should be some really good viewing to be had.
