NGC 5139 Omega Centauri ( The big Daddy of Globular Clusters)

NGC 5139 Omega Centauri is my last image from 9 days away down at my NexDome Obs South Coast NSW.
First time I’ve imaged this object with a 10” scope
Pretty impressive when the subs started rolling in on the laptop compared to my smaller Newts
Again conditions were ok with a moonless night

10” f5 Klaus Helmerich Carbon Fibre Newtonian
Skywatcher EQ8-R Pro
ZWO2600MC cooled to -10C , Gain 101
No filters, just internal UV/IR cut protective window
45 x 90 sec dithered subs
40 x Flats
60 x Bias
EQMOD and Ascom Stellarium
APT
PHD2 Multistar guiding
DSS
Startools V1.8 OSC Linear Data Set
Startools HDR to tame the core region and SV Decon to de blur and tighten up Star field.

Yeh it was a great week , also nice to look up and see the Milky Way and trillions of stars , unlike Sydney where you look up and all you just see is the Southern Cross , Pointers and the odd bright Star or two ( if your lucky )
Chalk and cheese
The sky down south is black , the sky in Sydney is dark greyish
Very fortunate to have my getaway to do Astronomy amongst many other things like swimming , surfing , kayaking, bushwalking and so on … lovely quiet piece of paradise.

This is purely personal preference comment: Omega Cent on a carpet of stars loses some of its impact for me. A shorter total exposure, leaving more black in the background is like the stunning visual view one gets in the scope (and the core is so dense that it never resolves anyhow).
That said your photo is technically brilliant as always!

Yes AP images are always subjective but I totally get what your saying
I’ve observed Omega many times with my 12” Goto dob using TV Paracorr with TV 21mm Ethos under dark skies and yes the main structure and core of the glob has a different perspective with the blackness of interstellar space behind it. Some say AP is the real deal and other folk say visual observing is the real deal. Who knows ??
I’m just glad I didn’t totally blow the core away with my larger Newt , I thought it was well controlled

My new 8” f5 KH Carbon Newt in Sydney still has some teething problems which I’m working through
