CGX mount power supply

Hi guys, just wondering what others have done regarding alternative power adapter for the Celestron CGX mount?

I found this one on Ebay, which is AC to female 12v 5a cigarette adapter and wondering if it would be suitable?
Allows you to keep using the supplied Celestron cigarette to screw in lead via 12v if you want to use it out in the field.

Cheers
Peter

You need to watch the amp draw specs of the CGX, especially the draw when slewing. The CGX documentation says a minimum of 4amps, but you need to allow headroom (I suggest at least 6 amps). In the field, if your running off a 12v car battery, there is not usually any issues. But at home, or in your observatory, running off AC to DC conversion, it's a good idea to stick with a well known reliable product, like the Bintel power supply (which i have used for six years to drive my CGX.)

I use and recommend this one:

As far as the ebay one mentioned below is concerned, I see no evidence that it contains a fan to cool it, the Bintel one does.

Thanks Glen, amp draw is something I hadn't considered and you make valid points about a sturdy power supply for the CGX mount.
Unfortunately the Bintel power adapter on the link you supplied is currently out of stock, but I will keep an eye out for when it comes available again.

Thanks
Peter
