This is an industry-standard weather monitoring unit designed to support remote observatory control using computer software. The idea is that this unit detects unfavorable weather conditions and then triggers the software to close up your observatory or not bother to open up, for example. Not used by me since purchasing a few years back, so it’s time move it on to someone who will use it.
The unit senses how clear the sky is, measures the ambient air temperature, wind speed, humidity, detects wetness (snow and rain) and detects daylight. It is designed to be used with observatory automation software such as CCD Autopilot. When new these units sold for over US $1600. The latest Boltwood Cloud Sensor 3 sells for about US $2300.
