Murphys law...curse you!

Seeing is superb up here!!...first sub, tiiiiiny stars!...neb a bit dim..??...step outside...aaarg FOG!!! Faaaarg! I mean seriously??!! sheesh....

I guess a solid rain front had just gone through, probably explains the great seeing...and also the fog a bit later on ...I hate Irish guys....named Murphy

Just checked the Tinderry forcast, 97-100% RH and fog predicted for the rest of the night ...that explains it, groooaaan... nighty night ...maaan that seeing was superb too, probably the best I have seen so far up here too? Mamma Mia!

Yep similar scenario on the south coast at my Dome
Fired everything up at 9, bit of passing high cloud , stars looked really pin point bright and stable ,no scintillating, sea fog and low cloud rolled in at 10, checked again at 11
Humidity up around 90, bloody summer !!!
Went to bed

To post some good news I can report that I gathered four hours of data last night which was unexpected based on the forecast. I was about to hit the sack just on midnight when I noticed that the skies had cleared. A quick check of a few weather sites and I decided to kick off an imaging session which went extremely well. I did keep a close eye on things though as I didn’t trust the weather gods to not miss behave at short notice. I am most pleased

Good one Rod ....in defence of my laziness, I had spent nearly 4hrs trampsing around our 100 acres, often in steep terrain, spraying weeds all afternoon...so after getting started but being thwarted earlier by the fog, the clear sky at 2am, although tempting was just not gunna happen...

I have moved to the South Coast of NSW also. Pbservatpry yet to be built.

Seeing here was also exceptional, one of the best I have seen anywhere.

I did some widefield lens imaging with a Canon EOSRa and a portable tracker mount. First astro image here apart from a nightscape.

Some nice looking downloads. I did a nightscape down here a while ago that turned out really well with a beautiful beach scene.

It stayed clear all night with only minor amounts of cloud. The stars looked pretty dazzling and bright. More like my remote dark site.

Greg.

High level cloud in Melbourne, who’d have guessed Melbourne would be cloudy

That all sounds pretty cool Greg so will you have three places then, or just two? We are moving to an apartment in the very civic centre of Canberra, the antithesis of Eagleview really but with all the trimmings that inner city life offers, right at our door step, literally...best of both Worlds I guess..?
