Jupiter - 15 May - Canberra

A lot of thin high cloud last night which messed with the dynamic range of this shot.

Regardless, the seeing was a solid 6/10, which was a pleasant surprise.

Would love some of the clear skies we enjoyed in Canberra through March and April, but this will do fine if it's a choice between this and cloud...cloud...cloud.

i know you hate dos command prompt, but bird's ninox and its -histo command does a histogram stretch on each image....it smooths variable brightness

I simply don't understand it or speak the language

If I were in a movie, it would be titled "Enter the Computer Luddite" or "The Year of the Non Borg".

I leave all that Ninox stuff to you, Mike...Bird ... etc

Why? A little acronym that goes along the lines of IT

Another excellent image of Jupiter Matt - you're really cranking the handle and turning these out on a production line now! A testament to your skills with the ToUcam and Registax despite being a self confessed techno Luddite!

Dennis - appreciate the comments, mate.

To be honest, I wish my processing skills were a lot more advanced.

I'm aware I'm not getting the most out of my data with my existing routine.

I'm even holding off buying the filter wheel and filters for the DMK simply because I really have no idea what I'm doing beyond a quick run through Registax and a little 'tweaking' in Photoshop

I wouldn't have a clue how to create and overlap layers etc

Even AstraImage seems a little confusing at times.

But having said that, I really enjoy the capture process and racing back inside the house to quickly process what I've got.

I guess it's a gradual process? Picking up a little tip here, and a small 'how to' there. Before you know it you're RGB-ing your heart out.

Maybe. One day.
